Privacy policy
We collect only what we need to reply to you about a project, we never sell it, and you can ask us to delete it at any time.
Who we are
This website, bascorp.agency, is run by Bascorp, an agency in Pretoria, South Africa. We are the responsible party for the personal information described here under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).
What we collect and why
- The project brief form. Your name, email address, the kind of project, budget, timeline, your one-line description, and the short brief the page drafts for you. We use it only to reply to you about your project.
- The chat assistant. If you use it, your name, business, idea, WhatsApp number or email, budget band, timeline and the chat itself. Nothing is sent to our team until you tap Send, and then only to reply to you.
- The interactive board and drawing tools. What you type or say is sent to an AI service to draw or answer. Please do not type personal information into it. Common answers are kept for up to 30 days so the next visitor who asks the same thing gets it faster; your name and contact details are not part of that.
- The mood board in the brief. When you finish the brief, your answers (including the project or business name and audience you type, but never your contact details) are sent to an AI model (Google's Gemini API) to draw a mood board. The result is kept for up to 30 days, filed under those answers, so the same answers get the same board faster.
- The game's high-score board. The name you choose (up to 12 letters), your country flag and your score. These are shown publicly on the site.
- Technical information. Your IP address is used to apply fair daily limits and to stop abuse. It is kept for about a day, and for the chat only as a one-way scrambled code. The country your request comes from is added to a brief so we know your time zone.
- Visit statistics. We may use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts visits without cookies and without identifying you. The site also records anonymous page-speed readings (how long a page takes to load, how quickly it responds to a tap, and how steady the layout stays), with no personal information, no IP address and no visitor ID stored. We also keep our own anonymous visitor statistics: see "Visitor statistics" below.
- On your own device. Your browser remembers your high-score name and flag, and whether you switched the chat helper or the sounds off. This stays in your browser and is never sent to us unless you submit a score. For the visitor statistics below it also keeps a random code that tells us whether this browser has been here before, and a random code for the current visit that is forgotten when you close the tab.
Visitor statistics
To learn what works on this site, it sends a short anonymous report of each visit to Bascorp’s own statistics service. It records which page was opened, roughly where the visit came from (country, region and city, as Cloudflare reports them from the connection, never your exact location), the kind of device and browser (for example a phone running Chrome) and its language setting, whether the screen is phone, tablet or computer sized, the website that sent you (just its name, like google.com) and any campaign tag in the link, the time of the visit, how long the page was open on your screen, and which main buttons were used (for example “Start a project”, or that the brief form or a chat was opened). A sent brief or chat counts only as “one enquiry” and where it came from (the form, the chat or the Build Bay): never who sent it or what it said. If the page hits an error, it notes only that an error happened, never what it said.
On about one visit in three it also notes where on the page you tapped (as a position on the page and the kind of thing tapped, such as a button or a link, never its text) and how far down you scrolled (a quarter, half, three quarters or all the way). Tap positions are never taken from a form field.
It never records your IP address, your browser’s full identity string, your name, email or phone number, or anything you type: not the brief, not the chat, not your project’s name or your own words about your business. Your IP address is used only for a moment, to turn away floods of fake reports, and is not stored. The random code in your browser’s storage tells us whether you have been here before; it is not linked to your name or contact details. Visits from search-engine robots and automated browsers are not counted. If your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, the site sends no statistics and no page-speed reading at all.
The statistics go only to Bascorp’s own reporting service (run on Cloudflare), are never sold or used for advertising, and are deleted automatically after 13 months.
Who helps us
We use a small number of service providers to run the site. They process information only on our instructions:
- Cloudflare hosts the site and its storage, and provides visit statistics.
- Google (Gemini API) generates the board's drawings, the brief's mood board and the chat assistant's replies.
- Telegram delivers your brief privately to our team so we can reply quickly.
Some of these providers process information outside South Africa. We use them because they apply safeguards comparable to POPIA. We never sell your information or use it for anyone else's marketing.
How long we keep it
We keep a brief for as long as we are talking about your project, and for up to 12 months after our last contact unless you become a client, in which case normal business record rules apply. Rate-limit records expire after about a day.
Your rights
Under POPIA you may ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, object to how we use it, and withdraw consent at any time. Email [email protected] and we will respond within 30 days. If you are unhappy with our answer, you can complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa at inforegulator.org.za.
Security
The site is served only over HTTPS with strict security headers. Briefs are not stored in a public database. Access to them is limited to our team.
Children
The project form and chat are meant for adults enquiring about business projects. If you are under 18, please ask a parent or guardian to get in touch for you.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page.
